Colour Atlas of Physiology (Thieme flexibook) Reviews
I have this book and find it extremely valuable. I have even referred to it in exams when lecture notes disagreed with the contents of this book. Just a reminder Agamemnon Despopoulos is presumed dead according to the preface so I imagine that he will not be writing anymore books. Look instead for more medical and anatomy and physiology books in the same series by the publisher (Thieme flexibooks). They are all excellent and enjoyable.
You will not find a better undergraduate text for physiology. Guyton, Berne and Levy take note. Your books resemble the Koran or the Bible: repetitive and at times, and seem contradictory to the novice. In writing the latter sentence I'm assuming that "freedom of speech" is my right. Also, please take note that the Koran was the prophet's (Mohammad) version of God's words. All other authors are not worth mentioning. What a riot!
This is a good reference book in case you don't want to know things in detail. I should always be complemented with a more technical one. I wish I had found it during my undergrad studies, it would make things easier specially for structuring knowledge.
FANTASTIC ! I'm from France and that's why i've read the french version. As a medecine student it has helped me a lot : with a very well made index and some superb graphics, this book is very clear and you can find the information you want very easily.
I teach Physiology at University and this book is my first port of call in areas in which I am not an expert. It is the easiest way to jog my memory as the index is good, the text is concise and the figures add a lot to my understanding. The only trouble is that it is getting a little old, so although it is great for most of the basics, it lacks a bit of detail on signal transduction pathways etc
This book helps several students and professor around the world and it is easier to learn and to teach
If you already now a little of physiology, and you don't want to lose it, or you have to prepare a clase this is what you nead. Great for students and professors.
